Polycom® SpectraLink® Application Integration

Improve mobility, responsiveness and productivity for employees on-the-move

Polycom uses an Open Application Interface (OAI) that enables third-party applications to send and respond to real-time text messages and alerts using Polycom SpectraLink® Wireless Telephones. Applications are developed using the OAI protocol interface with the wireless telephone system through the OAI Gateway. This unique two-way functionality enables mobile users to rapidly respond to non-voice messages, thereby reducing decision-making time and increasing productivity throughout the workplace.

Features:

  • Priority text message
  • Direct response from users
  • Escalate and/or forward requests
  • Command and control capabilities
  • Audible alerts
  • Group messaging

OAI Developer Support Program
OAI is a messaging protocol interface that is open to any developer. To enable development, Polycom offers a downloadable specification that provides the necessary information to integrate applications with SpectraLink Wireless Telephones. The SpectraLink OAI Specifications document explains the format and timing for exchanging OAI message and low-level access and control features for handsets, such as ringing and key presses.

Polycom also offers a sample OAI application to illustrate the potential for powerful solutions using SpectraLink OAI. The Sample Text Messaging Application is available at no cost.

SpectraLink Certified Messaging Application (SCMA) Program
Polycom verifies documentation and interoperability with applications developed using the OAI protocol through the SpectraLink Certified Messaging Application (SCMA) program. For a list of SCMA providers or to obtain information on how to become an SCMA provider, see SCMA Certification.

Compatibility testing is a formal process through which a vendor's support documentation and interoperability are verified to help ensure that OAI messaging applications interface seamlessly with SpectraLink products.

The following developers have earned SCMA designation and have the capability to address your integration needs. Polycom's two-way, real-time text messaging capability integrates with the most advanced nurse call system interfaces in the industry.
