G.722.1 is a state-of-the-art international standard wideband audio compression algorithm. It is based on the third-generation Polycom Siren compression technology and is derived from Polycom's field-proven PT716plus algorithm. Polycom developed this technology to meet the demanding audio needs of the multimedia community. G.722.1 provides high-quality audio at low bit rates with low delay and very low complexity. It works for all kinds of audio signals including speech, music, and singing.

Polycom® Siren™ 14/G.722.1C
The patented Polycom Siren 14 algorithm offers breakthrough benefits compared to earlier wideband audio technology. Polycom Siren 14 delivers low-latency 14 kHz super-wideband audio at nearly half the bit rate of the alternative MPEG4 AAC-LD codec, while requiring one-tenth to one-twentieth of the computing power. As a result, extra processor cycles are available for improved video quality or Internet applications, and batteries will last longer on mobile devices.
