employee-giving-2

In 2011, our Australian employees requested to donate five HDX 6000 video endpoints to Camp Quality, a national charity making a difference for children living with cancer and their families.  By providing high-definition video conferencing solutions to all Camp Quality offices, Polycom solutions are enabling greater communications between locations, providing innovative learning opportunities and expanding their region impact.  In addition, our Australian employees have a team fundraising goal to support six families through their cancer journey in 2012. By the Polycom Foundation matching their personal donations, they are well on their way to exceeding their goal.

Can one day of volunteer time off make a real difference? Ask the thirteen Hyderabad, India, employees that tutored underprivileged children at an inner-city government school and their answer will be a resounding, “Yes.” After just a week of tutoring, the students gained confidence and skills that took them to the semi-finals in an inter-school educational competition sponsored by the Atlanta Foundation. Thanks to support from the Polycom Foundation, the students and their school also received much-needed supplies, including books, globes, and backpacks.

Ask Scott Leitch, Polycom field support specialist, about the toughest installation he has ever done and it will be far from his usual territory.  In February 2012, Scott flew from Seattle, Washington USA, to Rwanda with an HDX 6000 Series video endpoint donated by the Polycom Foundation in his checked luggage. He was headed to Kigali to install the endpoint for Rwanda Partners, a non-profit organization he volunteers with that is committed to fighting poverty and restoring hope to the people of Rwanda. The donated endpoint now connects Rwanda Partners’ offices in Seattle and Kigali to improve operational effectiveness.

The quest of the Foundation for Hospital Art is to donate at least one painting to every hospital on Earth, giving comfort to the patients, medical staff and visitors.  With a grant from the Polycom Foundation and a half-day of volunteering, a small team of Atlanta employees added one more painting to that quest.  To date, over 500,000 volunteers and patients have united in an effort to create over 35,000 paintings for over 2,000 hospitals in 194 countries.
